Meet the Founders: Carla and Andy

Carla and Andy, the dynamic duo behind Circus Wonderful CIC, bring a wealth of experience and passion to the world of circus. Having worked together for several years, their journey led them to form Circus Wonderful CIC in November 2022, fueled by the desire to share the transformative power of circus with the wider community.

Carla’s Journey: Carla discovered the world of circus 7 years ago, and it quickly became a cornerstone of her self-care routine during challenging times. As a registered nurse, Carla recognises the holistic benefits of circus activities—stimulating the mind, promoting neuroplasticity, and fostering physical coordination. Her dedication to promoting well-being is not just professional; it’s deeply personal.

Andy’s Expertise: With a background in the fitness industry and care sector, Andy has been honing his circus skills for over a decade. His experience working with older adults and individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN) allows him to seamlessly adapt circus activities to cater to a diverse range of abilities.

Beyond the Workshop Tent: During their workshops, Carla and Andy don’t just teach; they create an immersive experience where participants can discover the thrill of various circus arts firsthand. Whether you’re twirling a hula hoop, exploring the comedic art of clowning, mastering the intricacies of poi spinning, precision of plate spinning, juggling with vibrant balls, or finding your balance in a mesmerising act, the emphasis is on active participation, self-expression, and fostering a sense of accomplishment.

Community Champions: In addition to their love for circus, Carla and Andy maintain an active presence within their community. They have brought their talents to local parks, not just to hone their skills but to inspire passers-by with short showcases that feature a dynamic mix of circus arts. The positive benefits of circus on mental and physical health are not just theoretical for them; it’s a lived experience that drives their mission.
